Terms and Conditions

The short version
- Cove is free. Use it to play Minecraft, but don't sell it or pretend to be us.
- You need your own copy of Minecraft: Java Edition, and Minecraft's own rules still apply.
- Cove isn't made by or connected to Mojang or Microsoft.
- Cove comes as it is. We work hard to keep it reliable, but always keep backups of worlds you care about.
1. About these terms
These terms apply when you download or use the Cove Client app ("Cove") or visit coveclient.com. Cove is made by an independent developer in England ("we", "us"). By using Cove, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it. How we handle your information is explained in our Privacy Policy.
2. Not an official Minecraft product
Cove Client is NOT AN OFFICIAL MINECRAFT PRODUCT. It is NOT APPROVED BY OR ASSOCIATED WITH MOJANG OR MICROSOFT. Minecraft is a trademark of Mojang AB. Questions or problems with Cove should come to us, not to Mojang or Microsoft.
3. You need your own copy of Minecraft
Cove doesn't include or sell Minecraft. To play, you need a Microsoft account that owns Minecraft: Java Edition. Cove downloads the game directly from Mojang. Your use of Minecraft and your Microsoft account is also covered by the Minecraft End User License Agreement and the Microsoft Services Agreement, and you agree to follow them when you play through Cove.
4. Using Cove
We give you a personal, free, non-exclusive licence to download Cove and use it to play Minecraft. We can withdraw this licence if you break these terms. When using Cove, please don't:
- sell Cove, charge for access to it, or bundle it with something you sell;
- share a modified copy of Cove, or anything else, as if it were the official Cove, or use our name or logo to pretend to be us;
- use Cove to break the law, the Minecraft End User License Agreement, or the rules of the servers you play on;
- try to disrupt or overload the services Cove relies on, such as Mojang's or Modrinth's.
5. Your account
You sign in with Microsoft on Microsoft's own page, and Cove never asks for your password. You're responsible for keeping your Microsoft account secure. Fake launchers have been used to steal Minecraft accounts, so only download Cove from coveclient.com. We'll never ask you for your password, by email or anywhere else.
6. Mods and other people's content
Cove lets you find and install mods, modpacks, shaders, resource packs and data packs from Modrinth and CurseForge, and downloads the Fabric, Forge and NeoForge mod loaders from their own projects. All of it is made by other people and comes with its own licences and terms, which you agree to when you install it. We don't make, own, check or control this content, so install only what you trust. Some CurseForge authors only allow downloads from CurseForge's own website, and Cove will send you there for those files. Some servers have their own rules about which mods you may use, so check them if you're not sure.
7. Changes and updates
We may update Cove, change what it does, or stop offering it at any time. Some updates may be needed for Cove to keep working, for example when Minecraft, Microsoft or Mojang change their services. Cove is free, so we can't promise it will always be available or work with every version of Minecraft.
8. Paid features
Cove doesn't currently sell anything. If we add paid features, such as cosmetics, in future, extra terms will apply to them, and we'll show you those terms before you pay. Anything we sell will follow Mojang's rules for Minecraft add-ons.
9. No guarantees
Cove is provided free and "as is". We work hard to make it reliable, but we can't guarantee it will be free of bugs or interruptions, or that it will suit your needs. Always keep backups of worlds and files you care about.
10. Our responsibility to you
As far as the law allows, we aren't responsible for loss that wasn't a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms, for problems caused by services we don't control (such as Microsoft, Mojang, Modrinth, CurseForge or the servers you play on), or for loss of data you could have avoided by keeping backups.
Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility where the law doesn't allow it to be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. If you're a consumer, nothing in these terms affects your legal rights.
11. Our name and logo
The Cove Client name, the Cove logo (the word "cove" in coloured letters) and the Cove app icon belong to us. Please don't use them in a way that suggests something is made or approved by us when it isn't.
12. Stopping
You can stop using Cove at any time by uninstalling it. Our Privacy Policy explains how to remove everything Cove saved on your computer.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when Cove gets new features. We'll change the date at the top of this page when we do. If a change is significant, we'll also mention it on this website. If you keep using Cove after a change, the new terms apply.
14. The law that applies
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute will be handled by the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
